Our History(cont’d)

…with a group of dedicated – God’s House – Word Hungry – Disciples and friends sitting on and about the 16th Street steps. Shortly, thereafter, the custodian came and opened up the doors and we resumed our study inside the sanctuary. Our first Bible Study came from the book of I Kings. Immediately following Bible Study we entered into our Prayer Service.

Church In Study held its first business meeting in August, 2004, at the home of Deacon James H. Linthicum, Jr., Church In Study Superintendent. Thereafter, meetings were attended at the said location once a month until we moved into our cooperate office on Peters Creek Road, and now we greet you in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ at 9:00 A.M., each Lord’s Day morning at our new Worship Center.

“God invites everyone that hath breath to praise the Lord.” God has blessed us with seven wonderful spirit-filled groups, including our Youth Hand Bell Choir and our recently organized Praise Team.

Pastor Davis, assisted by Deacon Johnny Chapman, baptized our first three disciples during morning worship September 5, 2004.

October 2004, our Church In Study launched its first ‘Discipleship Training Classes’ for both – adults and youth. The scriptures instruct us to ‘make disciples and teach them’, and adhering to these Biblical instructions, the Discipleship Training Classes were developed and implemented by Rev. Dr. Floyd W. Davis, Pastor, Rev. Pamela P. Crump, Minister of Christian Education, and Deacon James H. Linthicum, Jr., Church In Study Superintendent.

Each 5th Sunday during our Church In study hour, the congregation came together (both young and young-at-heart) and studied the Baptist Doctrine and the Articles of Faith.

Our Discipleship classes are presently being held each Wednesday evening at 6:30 P.M. Come out and be a part of this great learning experience.
